NY State Assembly bill A2021 (Gunther)  and
NY State Senate Bill S177  (Maziarz)

will lower the bow hunting age to twelve.

The Senate bill has already passed by a vote of 53 Ayes 7 Nays and 2 Excused

The only place to stop the bill now is in the Assembly.

The bill is currently in the codes committee from which it is expected to be reported out shortly and then head for the floor for a floor vote.

The only person who can keep it from going to the floor of the Assembly for a vote is

Sheldon Silver, the Speaker of the Assembly

Please call the Speaker's office

Albany Office  518-455-3791
District Office 212-312-1420

Refer to the bill by Assembly bill # A2021A

Use the phrase:
"Please Speaker Silver, "Kill the Bill Not the Kids"

Points to make: (safety)

1) Many 12 year olds do not have the upper body strength to draw a compound bow to shoot and accurately place an arrow.

2) Experienced bow hunters have a crippling (deer hit but never recovered) rate of over 50%. Inexperienced children will have a much higher rate.

3) Increased number of maimed deer running unto highways will cause more deer-car collisions resulting in more human fatalities.

4) Inexperienced and under-strength children will not accurately control the release of arrows and cause more hunting accidents.
